Ensembles and performers from three continents will participate in the National Folklore Festival of Two-Part Singing and Folk Songs in the town of Nedelino, Southern Bulgaria. The 24th edition of the traditional festival, organized under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, will be held from September 5 to 7, Nedelino’s Mayor Boyan Kehayov told the Bulgarian News Agency on Tuesday.
More than 2,500 Bulgarian performers will participate in the competition’s programme. Outside of the contest, folklore ensembles from India, Greece, Italy, Poland, Turkiye, Kosovo, North Macedonia, and Moldova will also perform. The latest confirmed foreign participant is a performer from New Zealand who will present Bulgarian folklore.
Some of the international participants are returning guests of the festival. The Indian performers will take part for the third year in a row, while participants from North Macedonia will be present for the 15th time.
The festival programme coincides with the traditional Feast of Nedelino. For this occasion, the central stage of the Rhodope town will feature both festival participants and famous Bulgarian singers between September 5 and 7, the Municipal administration added.
