site.btaSeaside Village Emona Welcomes All Ages to Open-Air Film Festival


The seaside resort and village of Emona, Southeastern Bulgaria, welcomes cinema lovers to the Sofia Film Fest Emona, the organizers from Art Fest announced on Thursday. The festival is to be held on August 17 and 19, in partnership with Art Emona, with the support of the National Film Center and the Europa Cinemas Pan-European network.
The screenings will be at Ploshtada (square) open-air cinema and are aimed at audiences of all ages. They will begin on August 17 with Flow, directed by Latvian filmmaker Gints Zilbalodis, which won an Oscar for Best Animated Feature. The film is about the adventures of a brave cat who, surviving a biblical flood, sails on a boat with other animals. Together they seek salvation in a world submerged under water. The film was presented at the Cannes Film Festival, toured numerous international forums, won the Golden Globe, Cesar, the LUX Audience Award and a nomination for best international film.
The second screening is scheduled for August 19, when viewers can watch the French animated feature The Prince's Voyage, directed by Jean-Francois Laguionie and Xavier Picard. The film tells the story of an old monkey-prince, stranded on an unknown shore. Wounded and lost, he is found by 12-year-old Tom and his parents, scientists with a theory about the existence of other ape societies, he discovers a new world. The story focuses on issues such as dissimilarities, knowledge and trust. The films are dubbed in Bulgarian, the organizers added.
