Bulgaria's Best Secondary-level Students of Astrophysics to Compete in International Olympiad

A selection of Bulgaria's best secondary-level students of astrophysics, named in May, will compete in the 2023 International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics. The five-member team consists of: Lora Lukmanova, 10th grade, Sofia School of Mathematics; Bayan Gechev, 11th grade, Sofia School of Mathematics; Konstantin Krastev, 12th grade, School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Burgas; Vladimir Milanov, 12th grade, National School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sofia; and Mihail Bankov, 12th grade, School of Mathematics, Pleven.

They will compete with the world's top astrophysics students at the secondary-education level, who will gather in Chorzow, Poland between August 10 and 20.

The Bulgarian national teams in astronomy and astrophysics comprise the school students ranked in the top five positions at the National Astronomy Olympiad, 11th-12th grade. They are led by Nikola Karavassilev, who teaches at the First Private Mathematics School in Sofia, and Zahari Donchev of the Institute of Astronomy at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
