site.btaNearly 234,000 Students Get One-off Financial Aid of BGN 300, Social Policy Ministry Says

The Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, through the Social Assistance Agency, has granted a one-off financial aid of BGN 300 to nearly 234,000 students in first, second, third, fourth, and eighth grades, the ministry's press centre announced on Friday.

The financial support is paid in two instalments of BGN 150 each. The first half is received after application, and the second half at the beginning of the second term, provided that the child attends school regularly. The assistance is granted to all children in first, second, third, fourth, and eighth grades in state, municipal, and private schools, regardless of their families' income.

The Social Assistance Agency continues to accept applications for home heating assistance until October 31, the Ministry announced. The amount of assistance for the upcoming winter season from November 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026, is 9.6% more than last year, or BGN 606.71, the announcement said. People can submit their applications in person at the Social Assistance Directorates, through a licensed postal operator, electronically with a qualified electronic signature, and in accordance with the Electronic Governance Act.

The monthly home heating assistance will be BGN 121.34, Social Policy Minister Borislav Gutsanov said at the start of the application period.
