Two aircraft from Sweden, provided under the European Civil Protection Mechanism, landed at Plovdiv Airport on Wednesday.
The aircraft and their crews were welcomed by Deputy Interior Minister Toni Todorov and Plamen Ivanov, Deputy Director of the Regional Directorate of the Interior in Plovdiv. Todorov stated that the planes are about to be directed to Strumyani, where the situation is currently most critical.
The two aircraft arrived with some delay due to technical problems, team leader Bobby Rose said. He noted that the machines can fly over the fire for three hours and that the capacity of the aircraft is between 2.5 to 3 tons of water. Depending on how far the water source is, between three and five approaches can be made from it to the fire, he pointed out.
