The no-confidence motion must be a serious blow, aimed directly at the heart of the ruling coalition led by MRF-New Beginning leader Delyan Peevski, said Yes, Bulgaria co-chair and Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria (CC–DB) MP Bozhidar Bozhanov, speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the National Assembly on Thursday. “That’s why we proposed expanding the scope of the vote to include the issue of captured institutions,” he added.

Earlier on Thursday, CC-DB and MECh held a meeting on a future vote of no confidence in the Rosen Zhelyazkov Cabinet over its failure in the area of public order and internal security. After the talks, MECh leader Radostin Vassilev explained that the vote will take place in September, with talks to be held with CC-DB to broaden its scope with sub-topics.

According to Bozhanov, the motion should be broadened to reflect how captured institutions impact citizens' daily lives. “This Government is a fig leaf for the ongoing process of state capture by Peevski,” he added.

Bozhanov confirmed that the MECh representatives reacted positively to the expanded proposal and that the no-confidence vote is planned for September.
