The chief of the National Security Service (NSP), Brigadier General Emil Tonev, and the chairman of the State Agency for National Security (SANS), Plamen Tonchev, were heard on Thursday in the parliamentary committee for control over the security services regarding the explosion next to the car of Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev. The committee meeting was closed.

After the meeting, its chairman Daniel Mitov of GERB-UDF said that the MPs had no information about the perpetrators or the instigators of the blast. Even the committee for control over the services proved powerless when prosecutors banned any information from being shared, Mitov explained to journalists.

An explosion went off next to Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev's vehicle on May 1 while his motorcade was driving on the road from Samokov to Sofia, in the area of the village of Kovachevtsi. The Prosecutor General was a target for assassination, Deputy Prosecutor General and Director of the National Investigation Service Borislav Sarafov said at the time.
