site.btaMinister Stoyanov to Participate in EU Defence Partnerships Forum
Caretaker Minister of Defence Dimitar Stoyanov will participate in a joint meeting of the Ministers of Defence and Foreign Affairs of the EU member states within the framework of the Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels, the Ministry of Defence said on Sunday. The annual report of the High Representative on the implementation of the Strategic Compass for Security and Defence will be discussed at the meeting.
The Defence Minister will also participate in the first edition of the EU Security and Defence Partnerships Forum on 20-21 March, which will be held once every two years. The aim is to enhance the effectiveness and coordination of EU efforts to strengthen cooperation with common security and defence policy partners.
The forum will start with discussions of the Ministers of Defence and Foreign Affairs of the EU member states and Ministers of Defence of partner countries on the joint management of contemporary global security challenges.
The previous regular meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels took place on February 20 and was attended by caretaker Foreign Minister Nikolay Milkov. Back then, the focus of the EU foreign ministers' work was on the one-year anniversary of Russia's attack on Ukraine, the consequences of the war for the Union and the world as a whole, as well as continued support for the Ukrainian people.
