site.btaTwo Romanian F-16 Jets Scrambled Over Drone Incursion

On Wednesday evening, two F-16 fighter jets were scrambled from the Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base in Romania in response to a drone that briefly entered the country’s airspace, the Romanian Ministry of National Defence reported.

The ministry added that the unmanned aerial vehicle was detected near the area of Sfantu Gheorghe in central Romania and quickly moved north of the town of Sulina.

Residents in the northern part of Tulcea County were alerted through the RO-ALERT early warning system.

“The Ministry of National Defence strongly condemns the attacks by the Russian Federation on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, actions that constitute a serious violation of international law and a threat to regional security,” the ministry said.
