Caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gurov reaffirmed the Bulgarian government's clear and consistent position of strong support for Ukraine. He took part in a videoconference meeting of leaders from the so-called "Coalition of the Willing", the government information service said on Tuesday.

This was Gurov's first participation in this format, which on this occasion was hosted by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron.

Gurov stressed the need for stable and long-term security guarantees. According to him, the European Union's contribution should be well coordinated with transatlantic partners to ensure a sustainable and just peace based on international law and the protection of Ukraine's sovereignty.

Participants in the meeting expressed firm and united support for Ukraine. Particular emphasis was placed on backing efforts to restore and strengthen the country's energy infrastructure, which has suffered severe damage from attacks. The meeting also marked the fourth year since the start of Russia's illegal full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the government information service added.

Since the outbreak of the war, the Ministry of Defence of Bulgaria has provided thirteen packages of assistance to Ukraine, according to information published on the Council of Ministers' Public Information Access Platform.
