Bulgaria and France have traditionally excellent bilateral relations, and we continue to strengthen our strategic partnership, based on trust, active political dialogue, and deep economic, cultural, and educational cooperation, GERB leader Boyko Borissov said in a social media post following a meeting with French Ambassador Marie Dumoulin.

During the meeting, they discussed topics such as common European security and the need for closer coordination between member states in response to new challenges, the war near Europe’s borders, hybrid threats, and pressure on the EU’s external borders. Energy independence and the strategic role of nuclear energy are guarantees of stability, competitiveness, and a low-carbon future, Borissov wrote. Bulgaria must use its potential to contribute to the long-term development of common European policies in this area, he added.

Bulgaria needs predictable governance and a clear foreign policy direction. In a dynamic international environment, our country must be an active factor in European decision-making. With consistent policies and clear priorities, we can ensure sustainable development and a stronger position for both Bulgaria and the European Union, Borissov said during the meeting.
