Sofia Mayor Vassil Terziev said Thursday that what has been accomplished for Sofia during the first two years of his term in office is the fruit of the collective work of the Sofia Municipal Council (SMC), the district mayors, and the central administration.
He emphasized that a report will be presented next week to the SMC on the occasion of his second year in office as Sofia Mayor, pointing out that despite everything, the SMC finds agreement on most of the important topics for the city. "We manage to accomplish quite a few things, despite the sometimes heated rhetoric, despite the many turns, unnecessary nerves, and sometimes ugly words," Terziev stressed, posing the question as to how much more success Sofia Municipality and the SMC would have if everyone was more productive and worked together.
For the next two years of his four-year term, the Mayor hopes to find consensus on the more important topics, among which Terziev noted the changes in parking rules, the new structure of Sofia Municipality and the creation of additional capacity at the Municipal Waste Treatment Plant. He commented that he has always strived for the Municipality not to be a soulless institution that residents feel alien, but a well-functioning structure that creates benefits for the city.
