A woman died in a traffic accident at the intersection of the E-70 highway and the exit for the town of Isperih on Wednesday night, reported Iliyana Georgieva, spokesperson for the Razgrad Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior.
The accident happened after a Mercedes-Benz Vito van driven by a 23-year-old person travelling from Razgrad to Isperih ran a stop sign and collided with a Toyota passenger car travelling to Ruse. A 69-year-old woman, the wife of the 70-year-old driver of the Toyota, died at the scene. Both had dual citizenship and were originally from the village of Kosharna, Northeastern Bulgaria. The Toyota had Turkish licence plates.
The Mercedes had Dutch licence plates. In it were the driver and two other people. All participants in the collision have been taken to a hospital in Razgrad, Northeastern Bulgaria.
There is an ongoing investigation, Georgieva said.
