GERB leader Boyko Borissov met with European Commission (EC) President Ursula von der Leyen at the European People’s Party Leaders’ Retreat in Zagreb. In a Facebook post on Saturday, Borissov said he had assured the EC President that Bulgaria and GERB are a reliable and predictable partner in the European Union and NATO.

“Our country has always worked to enhance Europe’s competitiveness and security. In this context, I informed the EC President about the process of building a strategic military-industrial plant by Rheinmetall and Bulgaria on Bulgarian territory. The project will create more than 1,000 new jobs, and production will bring together German know-how with the traditions and standards of the Bulgarian defence industry,” the GERB leader added.
