Olympic bronze medallist Evelina Nikolova ended her competitive wrestling career on World Wrestling Day, the Bulgarian Wrestling Federation said here on Friday.

At the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Nikolova won a bronze medal in the women’s 57 kg category. She finished third at the World Championships in 2015 and was runner-up at the European Championships last season. Over the course of her career, she earned a total of 10 medals from major championships, the federation recalled.

"This is not the end. This is a new beginning. Because a person does not stop being a wrestler when they step off the mat. The fight continues – just in a different form. For wrestling – with love," Nikolova wrote on Instagram.
