Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mariya Gabriel and the newly appointed Ambassador of Algeria to Bulgaria, Messaoud Mehila, discussed strengthening cooperation in the field of energy, environment and innovation, Gabriel said in a Facebook post Monday.

The sides also focused on the long-standing partnership and political dialogue between the two countries. The possibility of a bilateral meeting with Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf during the UN General Assembly in New York in September was discussed as well.
