site.btaFirst Unit of Akkuyu N-Plant to Be Commissioned on October 29 2024

The first unit of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant will be commissioned on October 29 2024, Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar told the Sabah newspaper.

The other units will become operations at one-year intervals, said Bayraktar for the pro=government paper. 

Until now there was no specific dare for Akkuyu’s launch into operation.

Turkiye will mark the 101 st anniversary of the Turkish republic on October 29 2024. Also October 29 is Turkiye’s national day.

Last week Turkish Energy Minister Bayraktar and Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev discussed the implementation of the Akkuyu N-plant project.

Akkyu is Turkiye’s first nuclear power plant. The project is implemented based on an intergovernmental cooperation agreement, signed by Russia and Turkiye on May 12 2010.
