Bulgarian martial artists triumphed at the 13th European Shotokan Championships that took place in Kranevo between April 27 and 30. With a total of 137 medals, including 46 gold, 45 silver and 46 bronze, Bulgaria achieved a historic success ranking first, followed by Georgia with 118 medals and Azerbaijan with 67.

This year's competition, organized by the World Shotokan Federation and the Bulgarian National Karate Federation, saw 410 fighters from 17 countries, including Austria, Croatia, Italy, Romania, Turkiye, Greece, Ukraine, North Macedonia. Bulgaria was represented by close to 150 fighters in all age groups.

Last year, during the 12th European Shotokan Karate Championships, Bulgaria won 109 medals (26 gold, 25 silver and 58 bronze), or 28 fewer than what Bulgaria won in this year's competition.
