The Bulgarian caretaker government is not preparing an annex to provide more military aid for Ukraine, caretaker Minister of Defence Dimitar Stoyanov told Bulgarian journalists in Brussels on Monday. He is taking part in a meeting of EU defence and foreign ministers to discuss further military aid for Ukraine.
"Today, plans to supply 155 artillery rounds were discussed," said Stoyanov. He added that Bulgaria won’t participate in the because it has no weapons of this calibre.
Stoyanov specified that the state-run Terem doesn't make ammunition of this calibre. "As far as I know VMZ, EMCO and Transmobile have such capabilities. These are Bulgarian companies both private and public," he added.
"The Bulgarian armed forces will provide what they can. We are short on stocks and we can't provide extra military aid," said the Minister. Stoyanov said that a joint procurement in defence is preferrable, and added that Bulgaria is participating in a joint procurement for anti-aircraft missiles.
