site.btaDSB Calls for Joint Meeting of Parliamentary Committees over Petrohan Mystery Deaths Case

Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB) leader Atanas Atanassov Tuesday submitted a request for a joint closed-door meeting of the parliamentary Internal Security and Public Order Committee and Security Services Control Committee, the press centre of the Yes, Bulgaria coalition said. The meeting would be over the six violent deaths in the northwestern areas of Petrohan and Okolchitsa over the past week, known as the Petrohan case.

Atanassov proposes that the meeting hear from Interior Ministry Secretary General Miroslav Rashkov and the acting chairman of the State Agency for National Security, Denyo Denev, given the sensitivity of the information and the need for institutional clarity. The hearing is necessary in view of the growing public distrust and the obligation of the National Assembly to exercise effective parliamentary control in cases of high public and institutional stakes, the request reads.
