Bulgaria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a warning on its website regarding challenging road conditions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which are the result of ongoing snowfall. The Ministry states that there have been changes to traffic in the country.
The main road between Bosansko Grahovo and Strmica is closed and trucks are prohibited from travelling on the roads between Bosansko Grahovo and Drvar, and between Prijedor and Sanski Most (on the section of road between Prijedor and Ostra Luka). Additional warning signs and traffic restrictions have been placed on the main road between Stolat and Taskovci, and traffic for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes has been suspended on the main road between Jablana and Blidinje. Snowdrifts and snowbanks are partially blocking the Kupres-Livno and Ripac-Bosanski Petrovac-Drvar roads.
Freight vehicles are prohibited from using the Sepak border crossing, while passenger vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes can use the Brcko border crossing. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has added that the use of snow chains is mandatory for trucks over 7.5 tonnes when crossing mountain passes.
The Ministry recommends that all Bulgarian citizens residing in or planning to travel through Bosnia and Herzegovina in the coming days check the Road Infrastructure Agency BIHAMK's website for the latest weather conditions. If possible, they should refrain from travelling except in cases of extreme necessity and only do so with equipment for severe winter conditions.
Torrential rain over the past 24 hours has caused flooding in southern Bosnia and Herzegovina, regional television station N1 reported on Tuesday. The floods have affected family homes and entire villages, causing rivers to overflow and triggering landslides.
