Monthly inflation in Bulgaria in February 2026 is expected to amount to 0.1%, placing the country among those with the lowest monthly price growth in the European Union, according to Eurostat data published on Tuesday. A lower or similar monthly rate has been recorded in only a limited number of countries. Zero inflation is expected in Cyprus, while a similar increase of 0.1% is projected not only for Bulgaria but also for Portugal and Slovakia.
On an annual basis, inflation in Bulgaria is expected to slow to 2.0% compared with 2.3% in January.
By comparison, monthly price growth in February reached 0.9% in Lithuania, 0.8% in Austria and France, and 0.7% in Ireland. In Germany, monthly inflation stood at 0.4%, in Spain at 0.4%, and in Italy at 0.6%.
Across the euro area as a whole, annual inflation is expected to rise to 1.9% in February from 1.7% a month earlier.
Looking at the main components of euro area inflation, services is expected to have the highest annual rate in February (3.4%, compared with 3.2% in January), followed by food, alcohol & tobacco (2.6%, stable compared with January), non-energy industrial goods (0.7%, compared with 0.4% in January) and energy (-3.2%, compared with -4.0% in January).
