“For us Bulgarians, March 3 is the day of freedom - a freedom we must cherish every moment, because it was won through the self-sacrifice of thousands of our own and foreign heroes who gave their lives so that Bulgaria could be free today,” Raya Nazarayan, Chair of the 51st National Assembly, wrote on the occasion of Bulgaria’s National Day.

“Let us be their worthy heirs, follow their ideals, and preserve the peace they longed for,” she added. “We must remember that this peace is not achieved for free; it is the result of our collective efforts and must be defended every day,” Nazarayan emphasized.

Bulgaria marks the 148th anniversary of its Liberation today, with events dedicated to the national holiday taking place across the country.
