Bulgarian Georgi Dzhorgov won the world title in the 12 km mass start, earning his second medal at the International Biathlon Union Youth Junior World Championships in Arber, Germany. A week ago, he won the bronze medal in the 12.5 km individual competition.
Dzhorgov missed one target in the shooting and finished with a time of 36:16.4 minutes, beating Rihards Lozbers by 10.8 seconds. The Latvian was the winner ahead of Ukraine's Taras Tarasiuk and Dzhorgov in the individual 12.5 km discipline, but on Friday he made seven mistakes in the shooting and finished second.
Third place went to Finland's Tuomas Latvalahti, who missed three shooting and finished 16 seconds behind the 18-year-old Bulgarian.
Sixty competitors took part in the world finals in this discipline, and three did not finish today. One of them was the disqualified Bulgarian Nikolay Nikolov, who made 12 mistakes in the shooting.
The Junior World Championships in Arber began on February 25 and will end on March 8, with the last discipline for junior men 3 x 7.5 km relay taking place on Saturday.
