Bulgarian kickboxers won a total of 20 medals - 9 gold, 4 silver, and 7 bronze - at the WAKO World Championships for Seniors and Masters in Abu Dhabi, placing Bulgaria fifth in the medals by nation ranking. For the first time, Bulgaria won a team title in kickboxing.
Kalina Boyadzhieva won three gold medals: in the +70 kg category in the light contact and pointfighting styles, and as part of the women's team together with Hristina Andonova and Alexandra Georgieva.
The other 6 gold medals went to Diyan Dimitrov (67 kg category, K1 style), Borislav Radulov (57 kg, pointfighting), Martin Dimitrov (94 kg, light contact), Nikolay Draganov (veterans, 74 kg, light contact), Alexandra Dimitrova (52 kg, full contact), and Katrin Gemkova (65 kg, light contact).
The 4 silver medals went to Kiril Iliev (57 kg, light contact), Alexandra Georgieva (55 kg, pointfighting), Polina Galinova (56 kg, K1), and Katrin Gemkova (65 kg, kick light).
The 7 bronze medals were won by Kristian Milushev (69 kg, pointfighting), Nikolay Petrov (84 kg, pointfighting), Kiril Iliev (57 kg, kick light), Atanas Dimov (71 kg, low kick), Hristina Andonova (65 kg, pointfighting), and Maria Petrova (veterans, 55 kg, kick light).
