Romania, Moldova and Ukraine will establish a joint chamber of commerce, according to reports by Romania’s public broadcaster TVR and online news outlet Evenimentul Zilei. The announcement was made at a conference in Moldova’s capital Chisinau on January 20.
The platform is intended to strengthen economic cooperation among the three countries, allow access to European funds for joint projects, and contribute to the reconstruction of Ukraine, according to the information released.
The initiative is supported by over 400 institutions and organizations from the three countries. Representatives from the business community, academia, and central and local administrations have submitted ideas and recommendations that will contribute to Ukraine’s recovery plan.
A working group has been established to handle the official registration of the trilateral chamber of commerce and to prepare the legal framework.
Adrian Cozma, Deputy Speaker of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies (the lower house of the Romanian Parliament), commented: “Romania is a partner because Romania is already a member of the European Union. I also believe that the good practices we have experienced in Romania, and above all the mobilization of European funds for community development, is a very important aspect that the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine must also go through. European money means modernization, it means a better life for citizens – for Romanians, for Moldovans, for Ukrainians.”
The idea of creating a Trilateral Chamber of Commerce Romania–Ukraine–Moldova was officially presented in June 2025 at the European Parliament in Brussels during a conference dedicated to Ukraine’s reconstruction. The initiative comes from the Alliance of Eastern European MEPs for the Reconstruction of Ukraine (AMEERU), with the support of the Institute for Project Development and Expertise.
