Chief Commissioner Emil Parmakov has been temporarily reappointed as Director of the General Directorate National Police (GDNP) by order of caretaker Interior Minister Emil Dechev from Wednesday, March 4, the press centre of the Interior Ministry announced.
Emil Parmakov graduated from St Kliment Ohridski Sofia University in 1996. He joined the Interior Ministry in 1997 as a First Degree Intelligence Officer in the First Police Department of the Sofia Directorate of Interior. In 2002, he joined the Criminal Police Department of the National Police Directorate (later GDNP). Since 2010, he has been Head of Sector at GDNP. By order of the Interior Minister in September 2022, he was appointed Deputy Director of the GDNP.
Chief Commissioner Parmakov was introduced to the employees of the directorate by Deputy Interior Minister Ivan Anchev and acting Deputy Secretary General Georgi Kandev.
Kandev stated that the responsibility for conducting lawful and fair elections lies with the entire staff of the Interior Ministry. He added that in this regard, the leadership of the Ministry has decided to vote confidence in Chief Commissioner Parmakov and the team he will choose. Parmakov, for his part, has expressed his readiness to continue active work on the priorities set by the Interior Ministry and the government.
The Interior Ministry announced on Wednesday that caretaker Interior Minister Dechev has ordered the removal of Zahari Veskov as head of the National Police, Boyan Raev as head of Directorate General Combatting Organized Crime and Nikolai Nikolov as head of Directorate General Gendarmerie, Special Operations and Counter Terrorism.
