site.btaPro-European Party of Action and Solidarity Wins Majority in Moldova's Parliament - Preliminary Results


The pro-European Party of Action and Solidarity won over 50% of the votes in Sunday's parliamentary elections in Moldova, based on 99.91% of tally sheets, the Central Electoral Commission said on Monday.
The Party of Action and Solidarity, with President Maia Sandu as its informal leader, won 50.16% of the ballot, according to early returns.
The opposition Patriotic Bloc, made up of four pro-Russian parties, is second with 24.19%.
The Alternative Electoral Bloc is third with 7.97%. Renato Usatii's Our Party won 6.2%. The Democracy at Home party, advocating unification with Romania, is fifth with 5.6% of the vote.
According to preliminary results, the rest of the parties, coalitions and independent candidates did not garner enough votes to win seats in the 101-seat legislature. The electoral threshold is 5% for parties, 7%f or coalitions and 2% for independent candidates, of whom there were four in Sunday's elections.
The Central Electoral Commission reported 52.18% voter turnout.
