The European Commission presented data on Friday from a Eurobarometer survey conducted in the 20 eurozone countries in September showing that public confidence in the euro remains high in countries that have adopted the single currency. However, the data does not include results for Bulgaria, which is set to join the eurozone on January 1, 2026.

The survey shows that 79% of respondents consider the euro to be good for the EU and 70% consider it to be good for their own country. The majority believe that the single currency has made travel easier and cheaper. Around 80% say that the euro has made it easier to compare prices when shopping in different eurozone countries, including online.

The survey also covers attitudes towards recovery and sustainability plans, as well as the allocation of EU funds to boost the economy in the wake of the restrictions imposed during the pandemic. According to the data, 67% support EU countries receiving funds to develop a green economy and invest in the public interest.

The survey also found that a majority of 61% support the removal of 1 and 2 cent euro coins.
