Meetings with the delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Zafirov continue in Tajikistan at the highest state level, the governmental press service reported here on Thursday. Specific steps on improving economic relations, the possibility of launching negotiations on the conclusion of major agreements in the economic field (an agreement on economic cooperation), the establishment of a joint intergovernmental commission and an agreement on mutual protection and promotion of investments were discussed at meetings with Tajikistan's Minister of Industry and New Technologies Sherali Kabir and presidential aide for economic affairs Nematullo Hikmatullozoda.

Zafirov stated that it is important for Bulgaria to get acquainted with Tajikistan's interests in relation to Bulgaria, both at institutional and business level. Both sides noted that there are opportunities for more active cooperation.

Bulgarian companies have considerable experience and are interested in projects in the fields of transport, energy and digital infrastructure, in which they can participate. A willingness was expressed to support the dissemination of information on specialized exhibitions in Bulgaria and Tajikistan in which companies from both countries can look for potential partners.

Bulgaria has the potential to expand exports to Tajikistan of equipment for the food industry, agricultural machinery, lifting and transport equipment, cash registers, refrigeration equipment, clothing, footwear.

Tajikistan's representatives declared their interest in the investment opportunities in Bulgaria as a gateway to the EU markets, the development of tourist ties, the increase of mutual trade and the export of raw materials and minerals.

The need for a direct Sofia-Dushanbe air route and steps for its implementation were also on the agenda.
