Sixteen representatives of the Bulgarian tourism sector are participating in EMITT (East Mediterranean International Tourism & Travel Exhibition) at the Istanbul Expo Center from February 5 to 7. These include tour operators, hoteliers and municipal tourism organizations, who are presenting their products to potential partners, media and tourists, the Bulgarian Ministry of Tourism reported on Thursday.
It said that EMITT is one of the leading tourism fairs in Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean, bringing together thousands of professionals from the sector.
Over the three days of the forum, the Bulgarian national stand will showcase the country’s wide range of tourism products: winter and summer tourism, cultural heritage, spa, wellness and balneology, among other specialized tourism offers. The Bulgarian stand traditionally attracts strong interest from Turkish visitors and professionals, contributing to the deepening of business relations between the two neighbouring countries, increasing tourist flows, and raising the profile of Bulgarian destinations.
Bulgaria’s participation and presentation at the 29th EMITT has been organized by the Tourism Ministry. It forms part of the ministry’s long-term strategy to establish Bulgaria as a year-round destination in key international markets, such as Turkiye, a strategically important market that has shown sustained growth in tourist arrivals to Bulgaria in recent years.
According to data from Sofia’s National Statistical Institute, between January and November 2025 there were over 252,000 registrations of Turkish tourists in accommodation facilities in Bulgaria, representing a 64.2% increase compared with the same period in 2024, the press release said.
