The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is hosting a series of press screenings as part of the Master of Art documentary festival. Beginning February 5, all screenings for journalists will take place at 5:00 p.m. in BTA's MaxiM Hall, with access granted upon presentation of a valid press card.
The BTA programme started with Caravaggio (UK, 2025), directed by David Bickerstaff and Phil Grabsky. This will be followed on February 6 by Dawn of Impressionism: Paris 1874 (UK, 2025), directed by Ali Ray; Michelangelo: Scandal in the Sistine Chapel (France, 2025) on February 9; Claude Nobs: One in a Million (Switzerland, 2025) on February 10; Rafael Moneo revisita Su Obra (Spain, 2024) on February 11; Titian: The Empire of Color (Italy, 2023) on February 12; The Ambassadors – The Hidden Face of the World (France, 2025) on February 13; Hitler’s Big Fear, The Trial against Degenerate Art (Italy, 2025) on February 17; Erik Satie: Reloaded (France, 2025) on February 18; Ai Weiwei’s Turandot (Italy/USA, 2025) on February 19; and Dante's Wondorous Vision (Italy, 2024) on February 20.
The Master of Art festival officially opens on February 6 at the Lumiere Cinema with Zlatyu’s Dog, a film dedicated to the legacy of Bulgarian painter Zlatyu Boyadzhiev. The film is directed by Petar Valchanov and Kristina Grozeva, with a screenplay by Diana Stoykova and cinematography by Kiril Prodanov. The film follows two contemporary artists inspired by Boyadzhiev’s restless spirit as they embark on a journey to reinterpret his legacy, crossing the boundaries between past and present, reality and fiction, irony and melancholy.
