site.btaBulgaria's Most Successful Female Football Player Popadinova Signs for Besiktas

The most successful Bulgarian footballer in recent years, Evdokia Popadinova, will continue her career at Turkish club Besiktas after being presented as a new signing on Saturday.

Popadinova, who was named Bulgaria's number one female footballer for the seventh time last year, has been playing for Brisbane Roar in the Australian league. She played 19 matches and scored two goals for the club, but her contract expired in May and she became a free agent.

Besiktas finished third in last year's Turkish championship. There, Popadinova will find herself in quite an international company, as the squad includes players from Portugal, Canada, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Colombia, Kenya, Nigeria, and Kosovo.

Since the introduction of professional women's football in Turkiye, the Besiktas team has won the title twice and has also finished second twice.

In addition to Australia, the 28-year-old Popadinova has played in Italy for Lazio, Napoli, and Sassuolo, as well as in England, Denmark, and the United States. She has scored eight goals for the Bulgarian national team.
