The film Made in EU by director Stefan Komandarev has won the Audience Grand Prize at the 63rd Gijon International Film Festival in Spain. The feature triumphed over 95 competing titles, the organizers said.

The film, also screened at the 39th Kinomania festival, received the Critics’ Award at the Arras Film Festival in France on 17 November.

Made in EU is now showing in cinemas across Bulgaria. It tells the story of Iva, a seamstress from a small town, and her son. The film was shot in different cities and towns across Bulgaria – Haskovo, Dimitrovgrad, Madan, and Rudozem.

The cast includes Gergana Pletnyova, Todor Kotsev, Gerasim “Gero” Georgiev, Ivaylo Hristov, Anastasia Ingilizova, Ivan Burnev, Ovanes Torosyan, Martina Peneva, among others.
