The Bulgarian community in Hungary celebrated Epiphany together on Sunday, January 4, announced the Bulgarian Republican Self-Government in Budapest on its Facebook page.
“Today we celebrated Epiphany together, one of the most ancient Christian holidays,” the organization wrote on the social network.
A religious service and the blessing of the waters were held at the Bulgarian Orthodox Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius in the Hungarian capital. After the service, the Bulgarians attending the celebration headed to the banks of the Danube, where, following an old tradition, the cross was thrown into the water.
A guest at the celebration was Miklos Soltesz, Deputy Minister and State Secretary for Relations with the Church and Ethnic Communities, the Bulgarian Republican Self-Government reported.
