Bulgarian Beloslava Krasteva defeated Chinese Mayaoi Lu with the black pieces at the penultimate tenth round of the World Junior Chess Championship in Mexico City on Sunday and took a big step towards the championship title.

She is undefeated in the competition so far, securing seven wins and three draws, which gives her a point lead against three closest players in the rankings - Charissa Yip (US), Thrisha Kanyamarala (Ireland) and Candela Be Francisco Guecamburu (Argentina).

Krasteva will meet the Argentinian in the last round on Sunday evening. Francisco Guecamburu was second in the inicial rankings with an chess Elo of 2345, while the Bulgarian was sixth with Elo of 2223. Krasteva will play with the white pieces.
