Bulgaria and China have great potential for developing trade and industrial cooperation. We have many areas of mutual interest that we can develop to promote peace and mutual understanding, which will create a stable foundation for partnership over the next 10 years. This was stated by the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China, Dai Qingli, at the Bulgarian-Chinese Conference on Trade and Economic Cooperation, held at the Hyatt Regency Sofia hotel in the capital.

The event was jointly organized by the Executive Agency for the Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises (BSMEPA) and the Embassy of China in Bulgaria.

In her speech, the diplomat noted that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative. According to her, during this period, trade between China and Bulgaria has grown at an average annual rate of 8.6%, which exceeds the average growth rate of trade between China and the European Union.

Qingli recalled that a business forum was held last week, with over 120 companies from Bulgaria and China participating. She also noted that the production chains between the two countries are well-established, and emphasized the importance of developing green technologies and artificial intelligence.

The ambassador stated that Beijing will not forget that Bulgaria was the second country in the world to establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China. She added that the relationship between Sofia and Beijing has always been based on respect, equality, and mutual benefit, recalling that in 2019, Presidents Xi Jinping and Rumen Radev elevated bilateral relations to a strategic partnership.
