The Ministry of Tourism is focusing on mountain destinations during the summer tourist season with a festival in Chepelare, Southern Bulgaria, the Ministry said. The event that combines the magic of the Rhodope Mountains, the richness of local cuisine and inspiring Bulgarian music starts at Olympiyski Square on Friday night.

The festival will start with a presentation and tasting of authentic Rhodope dishes prepared by local chefs. It will continue with a free open-air concert with performances by Stefan Valdobrev and The Usual Suspects and by Trigaida.

Another event running simultaneously with the festival is the Second National Scientific Conference on Climate Healing in Chepelare, which will continue until June 28. The forum aims to highlight the possibilities of the Pamporovo resort and the region in the application of climatotherapy.

Minister of Tourism Miroslav Borshosh said: "Having successfully opened the summer tourist season in Pomorie with a focus on sea tourism, we are now turning our attention to the advantages of the mountains as well, which offer coolness and diverse experiences during the warmer months of the year. Chepelare and Pamporovo are excellent examples of how mountain tourism can be combined with tradition, culture and health. Events such as this concert and the climate therapy conference show the rich potential of the region and contribute to the sustainable development of tourism in Bulgaria. I invite everyone to enjoy this unique mountain summer in the heart of the Rhodope Mountains."
