site.btaCouncil of EU Approves EU's 2026 Budget, EP Is Expected to Endorse It on Wednesday

The Council of the EU said that it has approved EU's annual budget for next year. On Wednesday the European Parliament is expected to hold the final vote on the EU budget for 2026 before it takes effect.

The budget is expected to amount to EUR 192.8 billion, taking into account needs in the areas of defence, migration, and preparedness for unforeseen circumstances, the Danish Presidency of the Council of the EU said. For contingency expenditures, next year’s budget will include EUR 715.7 million.

Next year’s budget is the last of the EU’s seven-year cycle, while negotiations for the next seven-year period are ongoing. In July, the European Commission proposed that the new multiannual budget be EUR 2 trillions.
