The Ministry of Tourism organized and held a series of working meetings dedicated to preparing and assessing the overall readiness of Bulgaria’s resorts for the upcoming 2025/2026 winter tourist season, the Ministry said here on Sunday.
The discussions involved representatives of the tourism industry and concessionaires from the winter resorts of Pamporovo, Bansko, Borovets, and Vitosha, regional governors and mayors from the municipalities of Smolyan, Samokov, Bansko, Razlog, as well as other state institutions, including the National Revenue Agency, regional directorates of the Interior Ministry, the Road Infrastructure Agency, the Food Safety Agency, regional health inspectorates, the Bulgarian Red Cross, the Automobile Administration Executive Agency, emergency medical centers, and the Mountain Rescue Service.
The meetings aimed to identify key challenges and propose practical solutions to ensure a modern, competitive, and safe winter tourism environment. Issues raised included strengthening control over ski slope safety, measures undertaken to ensure fire safety, the need to modernize infrastructure through the construction of new lift facilities, as well as upgrading energy and water systems in resort areas.
“The goal is to enter the upcoming winter season prepared, with clear commitments,” said Tourism Minister Miroslav Borshosh. He again emphasized the need for a bold, long-term vision for the development of winter tourism in Bulgaria. Cooperation and coordination between institutions and the tourism sector will lead to real improvements, the Minister stressed.
Minister Borshosh highlighted the vision for long-term development of mountain tourism: “We aim to build a future - mountain tourism that retains its workforce, attracts investors, protects nature, and offers world-class experiences.”
