Electronic Governance Minister Valentin Mundrov presented the opportunities that opened up to businesses following the approval of amendments to the Foreigners in Bulgaria Act regarding a platform for the issuing of work permits.
"At the Ministry of Electronic Governance, we aim to add the activities of several institutions to the created platform," Mundrov said Tuesday. He was among the participants in a national discussion dedicated to the challenges and solutions associated with the access to the labour market for workers from third countries, organized by the Bulgarian Industrial Association (BIA) and the National Board of Tourism. The discussion was institutionally supported by the Ministry of Tourism.
According to Mundrov, the envisaged legislative changes will provide traceability of the process.
"Yes, there are problems. Every system has problems, and they are technical, accordingly, and we are always open to look for a possibility to optimize the processes," he said. "This does not apply to colleagues from the Interior Ministry. I hope that after the change in the law, all documents and permits will be processed solely and exclusively through this system," the minister said.
Valentin Mundrov said that he hopes that employees from the Foreign Ministry will also be included in the system, given the reservations they expressed earlier. "I hope that in this way the information will arrive not on paper from the Interior Ministry to the Foreign Ministry, as it is now, but electronically," he added.
“The platform has been operational since the end of October and has been used by the staff of the Employment Agency. This shows that it works,” the minister said.
