Minister of Tourism Miroslav Borshosh spoke about the different aspects of cultural tourism at a conference “Development of Cultural Tourism in Bulgaria” on Thursday.
"The big questions for cultural tourism are where and when, what is happening, how sustainable is it, is it accessible, what is the flow (of tourists), what is the hotel and other infrastructure, so that it makes sense to talk about something more - an overall concept of the presentation of cultural tourism, to different markets and especially to different categories of tourists, based even on age. When all this is clear, then we can make an adequate presentation of Bulgarian cultural tourism as part of Brand Bulgaria," Borshosh said. The forum, organized by the specialized travel media TravelNews, was also attended by Culture Minister Marian Bachev.
Minister Borshosh presented the different aspects of cultural tourism, pointing out that there are differences in the presentation of the major festivals. “We need to determine what and how we present both to the world and to the Bulgarians in order to arouse the interest of a certain tourist flow,” he said.
The Tourism Minister gave a positive assessment of the national register of cultural events being prepared by the Ministry of Culture and also noted the nearly 10,000 events at municipal level, which, in his words, begin with the Varna Summer and end with the venison festival, summarizing that this palette of events should be sorted out so that there is information on where and what is happening.
