The Pirin Folk 2025 Festival kicked off at the Open-Air Theatre in Sandanski on Friday, the Sandanski Town Hall press office said. Audiences can look forward to three festival evenings at the traditional venue.

The festival opened with the ninth edition of the Children's Pirin Folk Competition for singers aged 8 to 15. Special guests for the opening night were Volodya Stoyanov, Radostina Nikolova, and Stoyan Petkov.

The performers' competition will be held on Saturday, August 30, showcasing interpretations of Macedonian songs. The festival's second evening will feature performances by the Kostadinova sisters, Iva and Velislava, along with Yuri Krumov.

The main event of Pirin Folk will take place on Sunday, August 31, with the competition for original Macedonian songs. Guna Ivanova and Rayko Kirilov will perform as guest artists on the final night, presenting well-known pieces from their repertoires.

This year’s song competition and performers’ contest will each have 15 participants. Voting will remain open until the conclusion of the event on Sunday.

The festival is organized by Sandanski Municipality, Fen Folk TV and Music Media Cluster. BTA is a media partner for the event.
