The proposed 2026 budget will allow the Energy Ministry and the Government to implement state energy policies, Energy Minister Zhecho Stankov said Wednesday during a meeting of the parliamentary Energy Committee, which discussed the draft state budget at first reading.

All activities in the field of energy are aligned with Bulgaria’s strategic goals as a member of the European Union, Stankov noted. He said that the budget allocates EUR 36 million to support a policy aimed at sustainable and competitive energy development. Expenditures under the “Administration” programme amount to slightly over EUR 4 million, the Minister added.

The Energy Committee approved the draft budget for 2026 at first reading with nine votes in favour, five against and three abstentions.
