More than 160 ballet dancers from five continents are set to arrive in Bulgaria for the third edition of the Sara-Nora Prima international ballet competition and the accompanying ballet academy, the State Opera in Burgas, which is hosting the event, reported.

The competition will take place from July 7 to 12 and will feature 70 participants across three age groups. Meanwhile, 90 dancers have registered for the ballet academy, which runs from July 5 to 13.

Named after renowned prima ballerina and long-time director of the Sofia Opera and Ballet’s troupe, Sara-Nora Krysteva, the ballet forum has, for two years now, drawn professional dancers with a wide array of awards. In addition to monetary prizes, winners can receive training opportunities and invitations to perform at national and international theatres.

The competition jury will be chaired by Sara-Nora Krysteva and will include Masha Ilieva - prima ballerina and professor at the Prof. Pancho Vladigerov National Music Academy, Marta Petkova - prima ballerina and artistic director of the Sofia Opera and Ballet’s troupe, Nikola Hadzhitanev - premier soloist at the Sofia Opera and Ballet, Vesela Vasileva - Chief Artistic Director of the ballet troupe of the Ruse State Opera, Aysem Sunal Savaskurt (Turkiye), Ana Pavlovic (Serbia), Michal Krcmar (Finland), and Konstantin Kostjukov (Russia).
