National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova met with representatives of the Emblematic Personality Cultural Association on the eve of May 24, the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, the Bulgarian Alphabet, Education and Culture, and Slavic Literature, the press centre of the National Assembly announced on Monday.
The non-governmental organization was founded by artists, musicians, painters, doctors, people of science from the capital's Mladost borough.
Kiselova praised the representatives of the association and pointed out that in difficult times the Bulgarian people have always relied on and trusted their compatriots, bearers of knowledge, education and culture. “At the National Assembly, we rely on you to assist us in finding legislative solutions to the pressing problems of Bulgarian society,” Kiselova added.
The National Assembly Chair informed the representatives of the Emblematic Personality Association that she is considering establishing a Legislation Council, through which prominent lawyers and experts from various fields can assist the work of the National Assembly in finding long-term solutions to existing problems.
The winner of the latest Emblematic Personality award, Professor Atanas Semov, expressed his gratitude to the representatives of the association for the reception and the extended hand of the National Assembly Chair. He pointed out that “in recent years, intellectuals in Bulgaria have been neglected in discussing the pressing issues for the country, the demographic crisis, social divisions and upbringing of young people. You can count on our support, knowledge, skills and experience to improve the work of the legislative institution,” Semov addressed Kiselova and proposed the building of a sustainable mechanism for meetings with representatives of the intellectual elite of Bulgaria, the parliament's press centre reported.
