The semi-final round of judging of the 53rd International Emmy Awards will be held in Sofia for the first time, Nova Broadcasting Group announced. Distinguished directors, producers, actors, and television professionals from around the world will gather in the Bulgarian capital in June for the semi-final round of judging in one of the award categories.
United Media, a media company in South East Europe, in collaboration with Nova Broadcasting Group, will host the event.
The winners will be announced in New York City on November 24.
Each summer from June to September, the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences travels to different countries to conduct the semi-final judging in the various categories. The previous editions were held in Dubrovnik, Athens and Pula.
The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences honours excellence in television production outside the United States at the International Emmy Awards Gala Dinner, which is presented annually in November in New York City. The organization awards programmes in a variety of categories, including comedy, documentaries, drama, children's films, news, entertainment and reality formats, shows and shorts.
