The concert series, “The Spirit of Spanish and Latin American Music”, begins on Thursday, April 10, and will continue until November 16, the Cervantes Institute said. The project is in collaboration with the National Music Academy (NMA), host of each of the five events.

The first is with Jose Miguel Moreno, and “The Spanish Guitar of the 16th-18th Centuries.” On April 22 is “Spanish Evening” with Rosa Torres Pardo and La Jose, on June 7 is David Martinez with “The Spanish Guitar from the Baroque to Paco de Lucia,” on October 11 is the duo Contrastes with “World Rhythms,” and the final concert is of Enrike Solinis with “Tiento.”

“The audience will be able to trace the evolution of the guitar from the 16th century to the present day through performances by prominent Spanish guitarists, as well as a concert for piano and voice in which a pianist and a flamenco singer unite classical music with traditional Spanish song art,” say the organizers.

In their words, this first edition of the series aims to mark the beginning of a fruitful collaboration between the Cervantes Institute and the NMA, which will annually provide the Bulgarian audience with the opportunity to enjoy the wealth of Spanish music performed by significant figures of the contemporary music scene in Spain.
