The Rome-based Asen and Ilia Peikov cultural association and Associazione Italo Bulgara in Abruzzo have nominated Nadejda Slavova for the Bulgarian Woman of the Year – Saint Zlata of Meglen Award, presented by the Executive Agency for Bulgarians Abroad (EABA).
Nadejda Slavova is described as the heart of the Bulgarian Sunday School in the Italian city of Pescara, where she teaches children the language, history and traditions of Bulgaria. She is also an organizer of concerts and festivals that showcase her native country “in its best light.”
Through her tireless efforts, Slavova preserves and promotes the Bulgarian spirit in Italy, building strong connections between the Bulgarian community and local institutions, EABA added.
In October, the EABA will present its annual Bulgarian Woman of the Year – Saint Zlata of Meglen Award. Twenty nominations have been received from 11 countries. BTA will present the nominees in a series of articles.
