The management of Vrana Park in Sofia was officially put Monday under the management of the Sofia Regional Administration. "It is with great satisfaction that I announce that the Vrana Park has officially passed under the management of the Sofia Regional Administration," Sofia Regional Governor Stefan Arsov wrote on Facebook. He emphasized that this is a long-awaited step that will "put an end to years of neglect and inaction on the part of Sofia Municipality".
Regional governors in Bulgaria are appointed by the government.
Arsov pointed out that the handover protocol from the Sofia Municipality describes a number of problems that have accumulated over the past two years and gave the example of a part of the asphalt road leading to the Vrana Palace being in very poor condition. Lack of adequate social and cultural initiatives in Vrana Park, as well as suspended public transport to the site, which limits access for citizens and guests of the capital, are other problems that the he noted.
"As regional governor I'm committed to turning Vrana Park into a safe, beautiful and inspiring place. We are actively working on the park's cultural calendar, including concerts, exhibitions, festivals and educational initiatives that will enliven Vrana and make it an attractive centre for culture and recreation," Arsov said, adding that the entrance to Vrana Park will be free for everyone.
